He was predeceased by: his parents, Roland Slaten and Mary Huddleston (Green); his former wife Margaret Slaten; his son James Slaten; and his brothers, Paul Slaten, Randal Slaten, David Slaten and Steven Stidham.
He is survived by: his wife Dorothy Slaten of Texarkana; his children, Bruce Slaten, Donna Blankenship and Debbie; his son-in-law Dale Gillihan; his stepchildren, Bobby Bearden, Janet Gatlin and JoAnn Lansdell; and his siblings, Mary Hiller, Pam Earnest, Caran Brown, Keith Slaten, Kenny Slaten and Carl Huddleston. He is also survived by five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
