He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph Leonard and Dishie Mae Varnell Leonard; his wife Freda Leonard; his son Billy George Leonard; and his siblings, Sammy Ray Leonard, Mary Wanda Leonard and Myna Sue Pearce.

He is survived by: his siblings, James R. Leonard, Russell Leonard (Martha), Melba James and Nancy Rutledge (Keith). He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
