He was predeceased by: his parents, A. Loomis Burks and Mamie Burks; and his brother Roger. He is survived by: his wife Margie Hodges Burks; his children, Marc Burks (Tina) of Sikeston, Missouri and Joanie Hopson (Wayne) of Little Rock, Arkansas; and his brother Ricky Burks (Beverly) of England. He is also survived by two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
