She was predeceased by : her mother Geneva Anders Thompson Shumake; and her sisters-in-law, Linda Black and Peggy McCoy. She is survived by : her father Marvin Thompson; her husband Bill Dowdy; her children, Steven Drake (Melissa) and April Shafer (John); her grandchildren, Jordon, Olivia, Maddie, Emma and Bella; and her siblings, Jerry Shumake (Alice), Kathy Rice and Ginger Fowler (Merwin).

Visitation was held on Sunday, June 23rd 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Griffin Funeral Chapel (811 N Lincoln Ave, Star City, AR 71667). A funeral service was held on Sunday, June 23rd 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
