It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Johnny Batson of Shirley, Arkansas, born in Batesville, Arkansas, who passed away on November 9, 2024, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his father John Batson; his brothers, Scottie Laster and Finis Barnes; his stepfathers, Medrith Montine Barnes (Laster), Robert and Cottonâ; and also John Batson.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley Batson (Westerman); his children, Mike Batson (Stephanie) of Beebe, Kristie Parks (Lane) of Newark and Tonya Gipson (Trent) of Newark; his siblings, David Barnes, Jr. (Barbara) of Charlotte, Kendall Batson (Martha) of Sulphur Rock, Donna Pectol (Ernie) of Magness and Jo Bray of Mount Pleasant; his grandchildren, Megan McClain (Dylan), Morgan Galloway, Robbie Parks, Ryan Parks, Tyler Batson (Summer), Allie Batson, Brandon Snelson (Diana), Jackson Snelson, Laura Snelson, Courtney Cummings, Tyce Gipson and Camdyn Gipson; and his great grandchildren, Carson, Lilly, Gray, Kase, Karter, Taylor, Owen and Hadley.
Visitation was held on Saturday, November 16th 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Newark First Baptist Church (514 W 7th St, Newark, AR 72562). A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 16th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
