He was predeceased by: his daughter Susan Lester; his brother Ronnie Sanderson; his granddaughter Nicole Briscoe Daniel; and his grandparents, Arthur Huett and Sallie Wiggins Huett.
He is survived by: his children, Carolyn Biscoe (Shane), Wanda Russell (Rodney), Hazel Bynum (Freddy) and Joseph Lester Connolly; his siblings, Tommy Lester, Roy Lester, Nathan Sanderson and Sandra Sanderson Cearley; his significant other Patricia Layton; and his sons, Gary Layton, Christopher Layton and Jeffrey Layton. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
