He was predeceased by: his parents, John Conrad Ison and Florence Elizabeth Jackson Ison; his wife Lula Beall Ison; his siblings, Emogene, Troy, Jamie Harrell, Tom Ison George (Ophelia), Jack Ison (Bessie) and Jimmie Ison; his son-in-law Steven F. Dillon; and his stepson Phillip Beall.
He is survived by: his children, Ross "Eddie" Edward Ison, Jr. (Debbie) and Christie Lynn Ison Dillon; his stepson William "Bill" Beall (Wilma); his grandchildren, Melissa Anne Hensley (Bill), John Albert Ison (Ashlea), Jennifer Erin Dillon Fason (Jade Lawrence), Jeremy Ross Dillon, Hayley Catherine Dillon, Julia Charles, Jason Beall, Amy Thomas and Mindy King (Joe); his siblings-in-law, Evelyn Ison and Leo Harrell; and his close friend Evelyn Hanover. He is also survived by fourteen great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
