He is survived by: his wife Susan Ellis; his sons, Wenfred Ellis and Lavar Ellis; his stepchildren, Staci Phillips, Sheryl Roy and Terrell Roy; his siblings, Diane Ellis, Dorothy Ellis, Joyce Ellis and James Ellis, Jr.; his sisters-in-law, Cheryl Newton and Rose Miles; his grandchildren, Kennedy Ellis, Melaine Ellis, Daylon Cooperwood and Sherrquia Ellis; and his friends, Tom Hibbon and Albert McCoy. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
