He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Hester and Bertha Hester (Lynn); his wife Minnie Smith Hester; and his sisters, Patricia Lynn Cross and Carolyn Ann Efird.
He is survived by: his nieces and nephews, Richard A Efird of Custer, Jesse Efird of Saluda, David Efird of Little Mountain, Eva Efird of Garner, Patricia Cross Daniel of Evans and Debra K. Cross Wheelington of Magnolia.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sylvan Hills First Baptist Church.
