He was predeceased by : his parents, Elijah Oscar and Eliza "Ela" Beasley Smith; and his grandson Tony Murphy. He is survived by : his wife Pauline Smith (Shellnut); his children, Kathy (Elroy Brown), Penny (Bob Tannehill) and Clay; his daughter-in-law Audrey Smith; and his grandchildren, Kevin Murphy, Chad Hinkle, Adam Smith, Heather Martone and Holly Bryant. He is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren.
