She was predeceased by: her father Hardy Benton; her husband Horace Tarkington; and her pets, Toby, Gracie, Hannah and Pepper.

She is survived by: her sister Kay Brinkley of Searcy; her stepsons, Jim Tarkington of Searcy and Jeff Tarkington of Little Rock; and her godchildren, Katrina Farris (Jacob) of Sidney, Landon, Micah and Noah Farris of Sidney.
