He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Flippin and Bertha Flippin; his son-in-law Brent Thomas; his brother-in-law Ken Johnson; and his grandson Carter Flippin.
He is survived by: his granddaughters, Karen and Patricia; his wife Mary Ann Bettis Flippin; his sister Mary Flippin Johnson of Brentwood, Tennessee; his children, Karen Flippin Thomas of Overland Park, Patricia Flippin Cunningham (Aaron) of Searcy and Dane Howard Flippin (Karen) of Jonesboro, Arkansas; his nieces, Kimberly Careau and Rebecca Smith; and his grandchildren, Dane Westfall, Ryan Westfall, Lainey Cunningham, Mallory Flippin, Emma Flippin, Zachary Thomas and Kayleigh Thomas.
In lieu of flowers, Dr. Flippin's family suggests donations made to the Southern College of Optometry.
