He was predeceased by: his parents, Vernon Howard and Bertha Beulah Abernathy Stewart. He is survived by: his wife Anna Lou Davidson Stewart; his children, Roger (Lisa Stewart), Thomas (Eleshia Stewart), Gary (Erica Dobbs), Sheri (Derek Swader) and Heather (Kerry McConnell); his brother William; his sister-in-law Rhonda Stewart of Russellville; his sister Johnnie Frueauff of Hope Mills; and his stepfather Lloyd Atkinson. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
