We bid farewell to Velma Jean Howard of Rudy, Arkansas, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on March 12, 2025 at the age of 83. Velma touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. She was predeceased by: her parents, Bernard Mayhew and Katharine Mayhew (Linde); her son Gene Howard; her siblings, Robert, Tommy, Ronnie Mayhew and Mary Kilgore; and her grandson Johnathan Petty.
She is survived by: her husband Troy Howard of Rudy; her daughters, Regina Gregory of Van Buren and Irene Petty (Ken) of Cedarville; her siblings, Stella Bennett, Roy Mayhew of Van Buren, Frankie Mayhew of Mulberry and Danny Mayhew of Nebraska; and her grandchildren, Dustin Petty, Joshua Petty, Kyle Petty, Shea Gregory and Katharine Reed. She is also survived by ten great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Monday, March 17th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Ocker Funeral Home (700 Jefferson St, Van Buren, AR 72956). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, March 18th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Ocker Memorial Chapel (700 Jefferson St, Van Buren, AR 72956). A burial was held on Tuesday, March 18th 2025 at the Mt. McCurry Cemetery.
