He was predeceased by: his parents, Orby James Thornton and Laverne Smith Thornton; and his brother James Thornton. He is survived by: his wife Shirley Thornton (Sinclair); his children, Rodney Thornton (Lisa) of Bodcaw, Arkansas and Lynn Smith (Mark) of Rosston, Arkansas; his siblings, Howard Thornton (Judy) and Ginny Thornton Dickerson (Harrel); and his grandchildren, Jalyn Barba, Alison Gravely, Daniel Smith, John Paul Smith, Orin Hampton, Hannah Ham and Chance Thornton. He is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren, and 1 great- great-grandchild.
