He was predeceased by: his parents, Miles C. Newton and Margaret Alymer Newton; and his brother Richard Newton (Sharon Newton) of Christine Newton, DDS. He is survived by: his wife Nancy Dietsch Newton; his children, John Charles Newton, Jr. (Mauricio Alas) and Gwendolyn Newton Musengwa (Ernest Musengwa); his grandchildren, Charlotte Musengwa (Kyle Todd), Lily Musengwa, Thomas Musengwa (Jade Sawyers) and Jane Musengwa; his great grandchild Bennett Charles Musengwa-Todd; and his siblings, Marta Newton Wold (late Hank Wold) and Roger Hafford (Jamie).
A funeral service was held on Friday, February 21st 2025 at 2:30 PM at the Fayetteville National Cemetery (1000 S Lt Col Leroy Pond Ave, Fayetteville, AR 72701).
