He was predeceased by: his parents, H. E. McConnell and Margaret Covert McConnell; and his siblings, Jane McCuistion, Marie Baker and Ed McConnell.
He is survived by: his wife Sue Ellen; his children, John II (Mary) of Levelland, Paul (Lisa) of McPherson, Mark (Jolene) of McPherson and Jo Ellen Dare of Rogers; and also Craig Dare of Stockton, Missouri.
