He is survived by: his wife Maydra Ray Bemis; his son James Bemis IV; and his grandchildren, Barbara Meredith Wells, Amelia Shay Lastra, Sophia Alexis Nicholson (Tyler), Duke Wells, Shaun (Angelica), Christopher Lastra (Hannah), Matthew, Brandon (Hannah) and Logan Bemis.
