He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Melvin Reaves and Cynthia Thomas Reaves; his wife Genie; his daughter Karen Gommel (Matthew); his grandson Cooper Gommel; his siblings, Woody Reaves (Rose) of Jacksonville, Bobbie Broadbent of Waelder and Jackie Beck (Merle) of Sommerville; and his sister-in-law Nancy Duke of Texarkana. He was also cherished by numerous nieces, and nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to Central United Methodist Church or Circle of Life Hospice.
