He was predeceased by: his parents, John Ellison and Alta Mae Boston Ellison; his wives, Bertha Louise and Patty Ellison; and his siblings, Johnny Ellison, Jesse Ellison, Millie Harp, Glenda Joe Stokes and Pamela Harris.
He is survived by: his daughters, Janet (Russell Stewart) and Diane (Jerry Moore); his sister Debra Jean Akers; his grandchildren, Erin (John Thompson), Kristen (Austin Steinmetz), Jacob (Shaylece Moore) and Adam Moore; and his great grandchildren, Reese Erin Steinmetz, Graham Isaac Steinmetz and Reid Asher Moore. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
