He was predeceased by: his father Dewell Leon Lovell Sr.; his brother John Lovell; his grandparents, Virl, Mosell Williams, Clinton and Anna Lovell; and his brother Ernest Virl Jr..

He is survived by: his mother Bernice Evans; his children, Casey Lovell, Clay Lovell (Abby), Lindsey Hafs (Andy), Cassie Lovell and Sonya Lovell (Rachel); and his brother Gary Lovell. He is also survived by several other family members and friends.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude Hospital where Dewell frequently donated.
