He was predeceased by: his parents, O. Z. Melson and Bondell Melson (Bynum); his son Steven Melson; and his sister Betty June Young. He is survived by: his wife Rebecca Stepp Melson; his daughters, Karen "Diane" Walls of Bismarck, Denise "Reine" Moore (Steve) of Prairie Grove and Michelle Hyler of Prairie Grove; and his grandchildren, Landon Patterson, Preston Patterson, Christy Hood, Becky Drake, Tyler Moore and Bradley Smith. He is also survived by thirteen great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.
