Chavis (Prairie Grove, Arkansas), born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, who passed away at the age of 75, on September 6, 2024. He was predeceased by: his parents, Miller Chavis and Annie Mae Chavis of Pine Bluff; and also Peggy Brandon of Redfield, Arkansas.. He is survived by: his wife Janet Wilson; his grandchildren, Jack and Harper; his daughters, Lori Lorenzino (Jon) of Springfield, Leah Lanford (Beau Brown) of Farmington, Arkansas and Eliza "Harper" Lanford; his sisters, Judy Chavis and Sherry Thompson of Benton, Arkansas; his friends, Stan, Rose Hicks, Steve, Linda Sunwall, Tommy, Ann Evants, Thom, Polly Walker, Roy Picket (Betty McKnight), Sherry Humphres, Nick and Shelba Avants; and his close friends, Duane and Linda Edwards. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to charities that serve the poor, homeless, and underprivileged, which reflected John's heart.
