He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence "Shorty" Cates and Eva Lynn Cates (Ward). He is survived by: his sister Kay Starr; and his nieces and nephews, Jourdine Kell, Jocelyn Forest, Gia Starr, Joshua Reynolds, Chelsy Starr, Crystal, Carol Robinson (Randy), Tim Eichblatt, Jason Starr (Jackie), Tony Starr (Barbara), Angela Beuchamp (Alan), Angelo Beuchamp and Starr Beuchamp.
