He is survived by: his close friend Jimmy Hixon; his wife Judy Nichols; his children, Ravonna Nichols, Kimberly Phelps (Richard), Nong Sutawasan and Laura Brown (Troy); his grandchildren, Sarah Thornton (Max) and Evan Phelps; his great grandchildren, Elijah James, Emmett and Everett Thornton; and his brother-in-law Eddie Hicks (Georgia). He is also survived by his wife of 59 years, his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and his nieces and nephews.
