He was predeceased by: his parent Stella Mae Ratliff; and his siblings, Ronald Bass and Brenda Bass. He is survived by: his wife Sylvia Bass; his children, Angela Hostetler (Jim), Mike Bass (Vicky) and Eric Bass (Kristi); his grandchildren, Craig Bass (Amber), Nick Bass, Lauren Bass, Lindsey McCuin and Samantha Hostetler; and his siblings, Gary Bass (Joyce) and Mary Wolfe. He is also survived by six great grandchildren.
