He was predeceased by: his parents, John Robert and Jessie Beulah Sims; his siblings, Frank, John, Milton Sims and Barbara Easton; and his nephews, Don Sims, Stevie Sims and Robbie Easton.

He is survived by: his children, Patsy Cummings (Billy) of Batesville, Arkansas and John Sims (Teri) of Plumerville; his grandson Colby Cummings (Jenae) of Batesville, Arkansas; his great grandchild Creyton James Cummings of Batesville; his stepgrandchildren, Brad Cummings of Rosie, Brian Cummings of Pleasant Plains, Arkansas and Bre Speed of Phoenix, Arizona; his stepgreat-grandchildren, Courtney, Hunter, Bryce, Haleigh and Braxton; and his close friends, Whitney Bean Foshee, Lindsey Bean and Isaiah Gamez.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Plumerville First Baptist Church, Arkansas Youth Ranch, St. Jude's, Heart Association or Diabetes Association.
