With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Bessie Lee Girley of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on January 11, 2025 at the age of 87. Though Bessie Lee may no longer walk beside us, her memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Bessie Lee touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In her absence, her spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Jessie King and Sarah Thornton King. She is survived by: her children, Willis Girley, Jr., Charles Girley, Sr., Alice Heard, Brenda L. Smith, Dorothy Girley, Janice Adway and Erma Girley; and her sister Louise Harris. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, forty-three great-grandchildren and fourteen great-great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Visitation was held on Friday, January 24th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM at the Henson-Holcomb Mortuary (3804 W 14th Ave, Pine Bluff, AR 71603). A funeral service was held on Saturday, January 25th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the New Community Baptist Church (321 N Birch St, Pine Bluff, AR 71601).
