He was predeceased by: his father James Irene; his wife Amy; his son Steven; his siblings, J. R., Gene, Fay, Buford, Burgess, Searcy and Mildred; and his son-in-law Marion Hester.

He is survived by: his children, Brown (Sharon) and Karen Hester; his sister Helen Ruth Potterf; and his sister-in-law Imogene Brown. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; and many great and great-great grandchildren.
