He is survived by: his mother Carolyn Brown (Powell); his stepfather Clifford Brown of Grandview, Missouri; his children, Darius Bates (JoAnn) of Atlanta, Christopher Bates (Kourtney Keller) of Manhattan, Kasey Boynton (Antoine) of Dacula and Rachel Cayo (Bertrand) of Atlanta, Georgia; his former wife Suzanne Bates; his siblings, Charles Bates of Kansas City, Daniel Bates of St. Louis, Missouri and Gwendolyn Bates of Kansas City, Missouri; his grandchildren, Gabrielle, London, August, Antoine, Jr. and Nyla; and his friends, Vena Rodgers and Patricia Jackson. He is also survived by several other family members and friends.
