He was predeceased by: his parents, Marvin Hershel Yates and Jewell Dee Clark Yates; his brother Hershel Dee Yates of Jamestown, Tennessee; and his close friend Joan Padgett of Linton, Indiana.. He is survived by: his sons, Kim Edward Yates (Robin), Kevin Lee Yates of Kissimmee and Kenneth L. Yates of Jonesboro; his brother David A. Yates (Robin M.) of Jonesboro; and his sister-in-law Martha M. Yates of Jamestown, Tennessee. He is also survived by six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.
