Shirley Ann DeGunya Obituary

Shirley Ann DeGunya, 75, of Paragould, Arkansas passed away on March 31, 2025 at Baptist Health in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was born on April 11, 1949 in Bald Knob, Arkansas to Jay L. Barnes and Mazie (Davis) Barnes. Shirley was of the Pentecostal faith. She enjoyed listening to music, barbequing, and spending time with family. Shirley was a momma bear and was known by "Nana" to everyone.

Survivors include; four children: JoAnn Ferguson of the home, Joseph Payton (Bobbi) of Jonesboro, Arkansas, James Garmon (Krystal) of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Christy L. McCline of Jonesboro, Arkansas; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren; one sister: Marsha McCormick of Oklahoma; one brother: Marty Morris of Oklahoma; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends.

She is preceded in death by; her husband: Charles Dexter DeGunya; parents: Jay L. Barnes and Mazie (Davis) Barnes; two children: Christy D. Payton and Justin Payton; two grandchildren: Jaylin Garmon and Destiny Garmon; and three sisters: Glenda Mahan, Linda Barnes, Donna Kay Barnes.

A Celebration of Life will be held on April 12, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at 509 N 7 ½ street in Paragould, Arkansas 72450.
