She was predeceased by: her parents, Thomas Liagh and Alma Ruth Horton; her stepfather Willard Duncan; and her brothers, Kenny and Ronald Horton.

She is survived by: her husband Bob Schaefer; and her children, Barry Schaefer, Jeffery Winston, Joan Stallings, Deborah Mitts and Angel Ballweg. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
