He was predeceased by: his parents, Thetus Smith and Eva Smith (Boles); and his brother Foster Smith. He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Smith (Flowers); his children, Bruce Smith (Candace) and Lynne Wilkerson (Paul); and his grandsons, Ethan Mulherin (Raini), Tyler Wilkerson and Spencer Smith. He is also survived by 5 great-grandchildren and numerous friends.
