With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Betty Lou Shafer of Palestine, Arkansas, who passed away on January 19, 2023 at the age of 82. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, James 'Short Hooker and Venus Lee Hooker; her husband Charles Leon Shafer; her children, Peggy Heath (Jimmy) of Searcy, Charles Shafer Jr. of Palestine, Stacy Shafer (Mary) of Rector and Jim Shafer (Alicia) of Velvet Ridge; and her siblings, Dale Hooker of Meeker, Stanley Hooker, Jay Hooker of Memphis, Wanda Crews of Niangua and Rosie Howton of Stamps. She was also cherished by fourteen grandchildren, and a host of other great-grandchildren.
