He was predeceased by: his parents, Grant Powell and Addie Smith Powell; his son Donnie Powell; his siblings, Gene, Howard Powell, Paul Montgomery, Dorothy Mitchell, Arlene Ragland and Wealthia Hope; and his stepmother Lillie Powell.
He is survived by: his son Rick Powell (Toni) of Tulsa, Oklahoma; his siblings, Joe Powell (Janet) of Ozark, Claudine Keller (Wendall) of Alma and Armita Umholtz of Ozark; his stepsister Ola Mae Crockett of Mulberry, Arkansas; and his grandchildren, Lora Hogue of Battlecreek and Carmen Opala (Jeremy) of Battlecreek. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
