He was predeceased by: his parents, Rufus Clayton and Elise Corrina Weir Griffitt; and his son Anthony Carl Waldrop. He is survived by: his wife Toka E. Griffitt; and his children, L. Brent Griffitt, Terri L. McKnight, Kimberly A. Wade and Tracy R Killen. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
