He was predeceased by: his wife Mary Jo; and his parents, Marion Martin and Annie Wood Bentley. He is survived by: his sons, Steve (Rhonda) and Mark Bentley (Kathy); his sister Joyce Fortenbury of Jacksonville; and his grandchildren, Justin Bentley (Hannah), Mary Katherine Wright (Jarius), Kevin Bentley, Joanna Reinhardt (Eric) and Eric Bentley (Kaylie). He is also survived by four great-grandchildren.
