He is survived by: his siblings, Joyce Burfield and Alton Appling (Al); his children, Marcia Preisen (Shawn) and Carl Richard Appling Sr. (Ricky); and his grandchildren, Amanda Mansel (Richard), Joe Appling III (Lynsie), Christopher Appling (Angie), Melissa Pla, Christy Pickers (Richard), Stephanie Bumgarner (Rod), Carl Appling Jr. (Linda), Brandon Appling (Brandi) and Thomas Appling. He is also survived by 23 great-grandchildren and 2 great - great- grandchildren.
