It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Opal Chastain in Mountain Home, Arkansas, born in Balsam Grove, North Carolina, who passed away on December 30, 2022, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Elzie McCall and Sonora McCall; her spouse Talmage Richmond; her daughter Mary Matheson; her son-in-law Jack Hamilton; her granddaughter Jessica Chastain; her granddaughter-in-law Angel Byrd; and her sisters, Della Aiken, Ola Hall and Willow Mae Perry.
She is survived by: her children, Jane Byrd (Keith), Tony Chastain (Patti), Trish Hamilton and Layne Chastain (Cheryl); and her sister Clara McCall (Dan). She is also survived by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Memorial donations may be made in Opal's name to Arkana Baptist Church or the Shoal Creek Baptist Cemetery.
