He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Gessner and Gladys Gessner (Bayless); his sons, Troy Gessner and Gary "Bub" Howe; his grandsons, Brad and Luke; and his sister Joanne.
He is survived by: his spouse Shirley Gessner (Cox); his children, Mike Gessner, Steve Gessner, Jennifer Partee (Rudy) and Lisa Sanders (Lee); and his sisters, Katherine and Velma. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
