He was predeceased by: his parents, Parks Townsend and Elizabeth Wafford Townsend; his wife Shirley Townsend; his siblings, Vernon Townsend, John B. Townsend, Carol Massey and Peggy Grappe; and his nephew James Townsend.
He is survived by: his sisters, Louisa Summitt of Moro, Arkansas and JoAnn Duckworth (Sue) of Moro, Arkansas; his brother-in-law Bobby Grappe of Pasadena, Texas; his niece Virginia Stiltner of Hardy; and his stepson Glen Garrison of Lake City, Arkansas.. He is also survived by several other nieces, nephews.
