He was predeceased by: his parents, William H. Merchant (Bill) and Eutilla Kee Merchant; and his wife Martha. He is survived by: his children, Pam Murphy (Johnnie) of Monticello and Rusty (Glenda) of Monticello; his brother Billy Randel Merchant of Monticello; his granddaughter Brooke Erin McGee (Josh) of Whitehall; his stepgrandchildren, Heather Hendrix (Brad) of Almyra and Brent Goetz of Stuttgart; his great grandchildren, Sydney Allyssa Reed (Matthew Smith) of Hampton, Christopher Reed and Blake Hendrix; and his sisters-in-law, Wanda Chester of Benton, Jean Hooks of Halley and Shirley Kizer of Collins. He is also survived by three great-great-granddaughters.
