It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Birdie Mae Hackney of Monticello, Arkansas, who passed away on December 26, 2024, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. Though Birdie has departed this earthly realm, her legacy endures — a legacy of love that will continue to illuminate the lives of family and friends in the darkest of hours. May her spirit soar on wings of eternal peace, forever cherished in the tender embrace of memory.
She was predeceased by: her parents, J. W. Speed and Mary Jane McCutchen Speed; and her husband Terrell Hackney. She is survived by: her children, James Trotter (Paula) of Monticello, Glenda Herring (Creed) of Lacey and Tena Ply (Clark) of Lacey; and her grandchildren, Allison Wear, Ashley King, Kristi Clark, Cassie Harvey and Michael Forrest. She is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren, extended family, and friends.
Visitation was held on Sunday, December 29th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Medders Funeral Home of Monticello (1324 US-278, Monticello, AR 71655). A celebration of life was held on Monday, December 30th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
