He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Rooks and Ina Rooks (McCue); his sisters, Inez Rooks and Barbara Stewart; and his nieces and nephews, Bud and Jody Rooks.

He is survived by: his wife Peggy; his daughters, Scarlett Sanders (Kenneth) of Palestine and Melanie Lipe of Palestine; and his siblings, Freddy Rooks (Dorothy) of Alexander and Carolyn Richardson (James) of Waverly, Tennessee. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
