He was predeceased by: his parents, James Riley Shirley and Nancy Brady Shirley; his siblings, Elmer Shirley, William Shirley, Houston Shirley, James Shirley, Ernest Shirley, Hallie Shirley, Nellie Mathis, Ruby Ison and Ruth Lawrence; his granddaughter Vickie Haney; his great grandchild Jerry Lott; and his great great grandchild Carter Lee Lott.
He is survived by: his wife Rosa Springer Shirley; his daughters, Judy Noel (Howard), Lynda Thurman (Gerald) and Nancy White (Donald); and his grandchildren, John Lott (Rita), Sheila Wyles Frankie Thurman (Duane), Mark Thurman (Andrea) and Grant White.
