She was predeceased by: her parents, Alta Elizabeth Massey Sutterfield and Blake Sutterfield; and her brothers, Harold and Eugene Sutterfield. She is survived by: her husband Phillip Avey; her children, Jamie Avey, Tracy Kelley (Justin) and Sarah Treat (Christian); her grandson Blake Avey; and her sister Dorothy Branscum.
