He was predeceased by: his parents, Jason C. Vangilder and Leoma Wooten Vangilder; his wife Mary; his daughter Pamela Joy Vangilder; his grandson Jerry Ryan Vangilder; his sister Donna Jean Reddick; and his brother-in-law Jimmy Don Reddick.
He is survived by: his children, James Carey Vangilder (Jennifer) of Marmaduke, Doyne Vangilder (Charlotte) and Donna "Lanie" Pinkerton of Marmaduke; his grandchildren, Mitchell Keith Vangilder (Amy), Brittany Renee Milam (Josh), James Sean Vangilder, Caleb Lincoln (Emmy), Jacob Lincoln (Kat), Joshua Lincoln (Katie), John Dowdy, Samantha Pinkerton and Emma Wiggins; his great grandchildren, Landon McClung, Kaylee Vangilder, Mattie McClung, Pacey Vangilder, Bostyn Milam, Oakley Vangilder and Gabrielle Lincoln; and his close friends, Renay Farmer, Bro. Kim Bridges, Dennis Routon, Ronnie Hendrix and Chad Agee.
