Winnie Sue Fernetta Cook Obituary
Winnie Sue Fernetta Cook, a member of the East Jonesboro Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, finished her earthly course on Sunday, October 1, 2023. She was 81 years old when the anointed hope that had been implanted in her heart became a reality.
Sue was born on February 26, 1942, to the Bowens. She was baptized on July 14, 1954, and often shared her memories of attending the landmark conventions at Yankee Stadium in New York in the 1950s. She married her beloved husband, James Doyle, on May 8, 1958, and they raised three children together. Sue and Doyle had the wonderful privilege of serving their God, Jehovah, together for many years in Monette, Paragould, and Pocahontas, AR. After Doyle's death in 1992, Sue's zeal for the truth and the full-time ministry took her to additional assignments in Van Buren, MO, Iowa City, IA, and Jonesboro, AR where she served in English, American Sign Language, and Spanish. One of her heart's greatest joys was being in the full-time pioneer service continuously for over 40 years. Her love for Bible truth shone through, and she shared the Kingdom message with everyone she met right up until her death. Whether she was known as Susie, Momma, Winnie, or Sue, she built up the lives of those who had the joy of serving alongside her, as well as those she helped start on the path to everlasting life.
Sue is preceded in death by her dear husband, James Doyle Cook, and her loved oldest son, James Paul Cook. She is survived by her son Mark (wife Amy Cook), her daughter Patty (husband Ted Kowalchik), her daughter-in-law Judy (husband Glenn Owen), her granddaughter Lydia (husband Gary Dudrey), cherished nieces and nephews and a rich spiritual family.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, October 8, 2023, 4 p.m. at the Paragould, AR Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.
