Barbara Ellen Simington Obituary

Barbara Ellen Simington passed away at her home on Saturday, February 8, 2025. Barbara was born on Tuesday, May 22, 1956. She was a graduate of Ravenden Springs High School, class of 1973, graduating a year early skipping the eleventh grade. She married the love of her life, Dale Lewis Simington, on October 20, 1973. Their love for one another lasted fifty-one years, and only death could separate them. Into this world, they brought two wonderful daughters, Jennifer and Pamela. Barbara loved to sew and quilt which led her to be part of the Water Valley Extension Homemakers. Over the years, she had many vocations in food service and several years as a preschool teacher where she earned teacher of the year. However, she found the most joy being at home raising her girls and making sure Dale was cared for.

Barbara was very proud of her grandkids and all their achievements at school and in 4-H. She was a great cook, loved to quilt, and do many different crafts. And, if you took her on a trip, you had to stop for yard sales because she loved to find a deal.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Laverne Mitchell and Ruth Sebastian and two brothers, Larry Mitchell and Calvin Mitchell.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years Dale Simington, two daughters Jennifer (Matthew) Kerley of Marion, Arkansas and Pamela (James) Ray of Ravenden Springs, Arkansas and three grandchildren Skyler Ray, Bentley Ray, and Hannah Ray; one brother, Darrel (Nancy) Mitchell, and four sisters, Kathy Copeland of Paragould, Marie (Kevin) Nix of Pocahontas, Lucille Mitchell of Paragould, and Margie Sebastian of Quincy, Florida; many nieces and nephews and a large host of friends.

A celebration of Life will be held on February 22, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Pocahontas Missionary Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to a charity of your choice.
